Happy Monday! I have wanted hair extensions for SO LONG so when I got the chance to do hair modeling at Indigo Child in Dallas, I thought why not?! I have had them for about a month now, so I thought I was answer some FAQ’s and fill you in on my actual thoughts! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or DM me on Instagram if you have any questions!
Where did you get them done? I went to my girl, Summer at Indigo Child in Dallas. She absolutely killed it and I would highly recommend her!
Is it painful? No, not at all. While you are getting them done and for the next 24 hours, your scalp is a little sensitive considering you have something foreign in your hair. Honestly, after a day or two I didn’t even notice they were there.
Are they annoying to sleep with? To be honest, the first night was so weird. It took me a while to get comfortable and figure out the best position (I’m a side sleeper). Also, the sensitivity played a role in how uncomfortable it was the first night. But like I said, after the first couple days, I didn’t even notice them.
What is the care like? It is pretty easy and low maintenance if you ask me. I only wash and style my hair once a week; the less you wash and put heat on it the better. I do my hair routine every Sunday and the Bellami hair we used along with my natural hair, holds my curls all week. I never have to touch them up and I like them a little more each day! In the shower, I use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner to help keep it healthy. You kind of have to be strategic when washing and get in between the wefts. After the shower, I use a wet brush and blow dry just the scalp area to make sure the roots are dry. I use this heat protectant from Dry Bar and curl them that night. I use this finishing spray to give texture and finish with this oil on the ends. Wha-lah!
What is the price? It varies depending on where you go, the type of hair, and how much hair you get. Where I went, the hair itself costs about $300-$400 and the installation is about $800. It is recommended to go every 6-8 weeks to get them moved up and that costs $200. Definitely an investment, but look at the results!
